Bodegas Pardevalles
Spain | Castilla y León | Tierra de León
Vinedos y Bodegas Pardevalles is a family owned and operated bodega located in the Tierras de Leon region. Rafael Alonzo, the owner, brought the Prieto Picudo varietal back from near extinction. He found that one of the main difficulties in growing the varietal had been that it grew very close to the ground, where the high humidity and cool temperature at night during the growing season led to excessive rot and mildew. Rafael introduced a trellised system to the vineyard. He now has the oldest trellised Prieto Picudo vines in the world. His vineyards are named ‘Gamonal’ and ‘Carroleon’.
