100% Pinot noir, sustainably farmed from Gap View Vineyard on Adobe road in the Petaluma Gap — known for its exuberant Pinot style.
From Leo, “The Clear Lake soil composition here is primarily sandy; clay over gravel on a gentle slope. This promotes a richer and textured style in this windy and cold environment.”
Hand-harvested fruit, fermented in small batches with indigenous yeast, and 16mos. in French oak — juicy, saline, composed texture. [Read more about it here]

Working toward a place where style and vineyard authenticity naturally meet, Hansen focuses his production on single-vineyard sites that experience significant diurnal shifts between day and night temperatures, to maintain acidity and allow for ripeness, but with lower alcohol levels.
Trademarks of Hansen’s ethos are whole cluster and natural yeast fermentation, minimal oak; as little intervention as possible. His naturalistic approach is mirrored in the vineyards where Hansen holds long-term contracts and also helps to farm.
