Domaine des Terres de Chatenay

France | Burgundy | Mâconnais

Jean Claude Odile formerly managed the Cave Co-op at Viré-Clessé but gave up his executive position to farm a small parcel of land ( 6ha) that belongs to his wife Marie-Odile. The vineyards are 100% Chardonnay in the Commune of Quintaine, a special “climat” of Clessé and are over 60 years old Producers like the Janins, are part of the tiny minority of grower-producers in Macon that hand harvest and barrel ferment ( less than 2% of Macon wines are made this way). Their wines are selected and produced according to each terroir. The wines are blended from both tank and barrel fermented wines. The production for this Domaine is only 400 cases. ViréClessé Terroir de Quintaine is beautifully scented with pear drop, acacia flower, and a palate of pastry cream subtleties, rich, round, but with racy acidity. This is a special wine from a tiny production at the hands of a true Macon specialist.
