Perennial Spirits
American Vodka
Crafted with Deep Roots – Distilled from Kernza®
Perennial Spirits is the first premium vodka distilled from 100% Kernza®, perennial grains with 10-20 ft roots that sequester carbon and restore soil health year-round. These deep roots pull character from the ground for a vodka that is clean and precise – with texture, balance and a real sense of place.
This isn’t just vodka, it’s a climate solution in a bottle. Their process begins in the soil with a commitment to regenerative farming, and it ends with a spirit of depth, integrity, and flavor.
Profile
NOSE: Earthy and root-driven. Notes of wet grass, sun-warmed plum skin, and green hay.
PALATE: Silky texture with mid-palate flavors of buttered toast, nutty grain sweetness, and raw honey.
FINISH: Long, dry, and structured. Lingering toasted grain, minerality, and soft orange blossom.
What is Kernza?
The first perennial grain to reach commercial scale. A crop that redefines what grain can be with roots that run more than ten feet deep, it restores soil, captures carbon and keeps fields alive year-round. More than an ingredient, Kernza is a symbol of agriculture’s future. Resilient, regenerative. – Learn More about Kernza, here

Background
Perennial Spirits was founded by a multidisciplinary team united by a commitment to regenerative agriculture and perennial grains: Beth Robertson-Martin, a food and agriculture entrepreneur raised on an organic Missouri farm who has spent over a decade building sustainable grain supply chains and championing Kernza®; Brandon Schlautman, a Midwestern farmer and plant geneticist with a PhD from the University of Wisconsin who leads perennial grain research at The Land Institute and shapes the agricultural and scientific vision behind Kernza®-based vodka; and Shawn Gruenhagen, a creative strategist who transitioned from a 17-year career at Vans to regenerative agriculture, bridging farming, distillation, and storytelling to bring perennial grain spirits from soil to glass.
