Petaluma Gap | Where Wind Makes Wine

Just north of San Francisco is the Petaluma Gap—a break in the Coastal Ranges where Pacific winds roll in from the coast. This diurnal shift causes up to a 50* swing in temperature daily, creating some of California’s best Pinot Noir.

VINEYARD
Gap View Vineyard on Adobe road in the Petaluma Gap is known for its exuberant Pinot style. The Clear Lake soil composition is primarily sandy, clay over gravel on a gentle slope. This promotes a richer and textured style in this windy and cold environment.

VITICULTURE
A part of the Sonoma sustainable viticulture. Vines are trellised bilateral cordon with Southern exposure.

pH 3.64

VINIFICATION
The fruit was hand harvested and de-stemmed, then fermented in small batches with indigenous yeast. Post-fermentation it was moved to tank where it completed malolactic fermentation, and then matured in seasoned French oak Burgundy barrels.
